A Nutanix Case Study
Hamada City, a local government in western Shimane Prefecture, faced a fast-moving infrastructure refresh that required integrating six different physical networks with SDN virtualization, creating a separate Internet environment, building a 400+ virtual desktop environment, improving disaster recovery, consolidating systems, and updating a real‑time video broadcast system — all while keeping operations uninterrupted and retaining cloud‑like flexibility, single‑pane management, VM snapshots, efficient deduplicated storage, and fast scalability. The IT team selected Nutanix Enterprise Cloud after determining conventional 3‑tier approaches wouldn’t meet their tight timeline or changing policy requirements.
Hamada deployed Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS on Dell EMC XC hyperconverged appliances (six nodes in the main cluster plus three for DR), now running ~60 VMs for file services, AD, groupware, VDI, video, taxes and more. The solution was live within three months (Nutanix parts completed in days), cut procurement costs by about one‑third, reduced OpEx ~20% by bringing management in‑house, shortened new server allocation from months to tens of minutes, and cut file server reboot time from 5 minutes to 30 seconds — delivering easier management, faster performance and cloud‑style scalability on‑premises.
