A Nutanix Case Study
Fuji City, a local government organization serving about 250,000 residents, needed to modernize an IT environment that relied on roughly 2,400 thin clients and early VDI/SBC deployments. The existing virtualization stack had become complex and costly to operate, made it hard to respond quickly to system enhancement requests, and left disaster recovery (DR) gaps that could interrupt city operations in a large‑scale disaster.
The city implemented an on‑prem IaaS using Nutanix Cloud Platform (AOS, Prism, AHV) with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, mirroring infrastructure between the data center and the seismically isolated main government building for robust DR. The rollout reduced the number of servers, cut data center housing and operational costs, integrated RPA into the platform, and enabled rapid provisioning (typically 5–10 minutes), flexible scaling, and simpler centralized management to strengthen business continuity.
