Foster’s Supermarket modernizes IT infrastructure with Nutanix partnership

Foster’s Supermarket, the Cayman Islands’ largest food retailer, faced an urgent modernization challenge as its legacy storage and compute platforms were nearing end of life. In partnership with Nutanix, the company needed to rapidly transition critical IT systems while improving resilience, reducing silos, and supporting better customer and business operations.

Nutanix implemented hyperconverged infrastructure, consolidating servers, storage, networking, applications, data management, and security into a single platform managed through Prism. The results included significant cost savings, stronger disaster recovery, and much faster recovery times: Foster’s failed over its entire business to a secondary data center and back within 6 hours, and during a hurricane switched sites in 3 hours and ran there for 8 days. The Nutanix solution also enabled rapid snapshot-based rollbacks and faster application development, helping Foster’s roll out at least one new application per month.
