A Nutanix Case Study
SMIT, the IT and Development Center for Estonia’s Ministry of the Interior, needed a more scalable, available, and automated infrastructure to support critical police, border control, and citizen digital services. Its siloed environment made it hard to develop new services quickly, and SMIT turned to Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, including the Nutanix AHV hypervisor, to simplify operations and support modern DevOps practices.
Nutanix implemented a standardized hyperconverged platform with one-click management, live patching, and open-standards support for GitOps, Kubernetes, and Terraform. The results have been strong: about 80% of SMIT’s workloads now run on Nutanix, two administrators manage thousands of VMs across dozens of clusters, and the organization reports zero serious incidents, nearly flawless performance, faster Kubernetes deployment, and lower TCO through reduced hypervisor licensing costs.
