Empire Life cuts datacenter footprint 16:1 with Nutanix

Empire Life, a Canadian life insurance and investment company, faced the challenge of replacing its expensive and aging mainframe environment. They needed to cut infrastructure costs, dramatically reduce their datacenter footprint, and improve disaster recovery for their mission-critical applications. To address this, they turned to vendor Nutanix for its web-scale, hyperconverged infrastructure platform.

The solution implemented by Nutanix consolidated all critical production workloads, as well as development, test, and VDI environments, onto two hyperconverged clusters. This move yielded substantial results: Empire Life reduced IT infrastructure costs by 50-65%, slashed its datacenter footprint by a ratio of 16:1, and decreased recovery time objectives from 48 hours to mere minutes at one-third the previous DR cost. Nutanix also simplified management and enabled easy, on-the-fly scalability for future growth.
