Elizabeth City State University Makes the Educated Decision to Migrate to Nutanix

Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), a historically Black public university of about 1,500 students, was managing an aging, heterogeneous IT environment—disparate servers, a small Hyper-V cloud and VMware clusters—resulting in slow provisioning, siloed staff, and mounting refresh and licensing costs.

ECSU moved to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud with AHV on Cisco UCS and Prism management. The Nutanix team deployed a 5‑node cluster in two days; admin overhead fell fourfold (from 3–4 specialists to one), provisioning and restores became much faster thanks to snapshots, visibility improved with a single pane of glass, the datacenter footprint dropped to under one rack, and the university avoided recurring VMware license fees.
