Doctors of BC, a voluntary association representing 14,000 physicians in British Columbia, was running an aging three-tier infrastructure (Dell/EMC servers and EqualLogic storage) that was difficult to scale, disruptive to upgrade, and approaching end-of-life. The legacy environment caused availability and replication issues and carried high hypervisor licensing and data center footprint costs, so the IT team engaged partner OPUS to find a more resilient, cost-effective platform.

They deployed Nutanix Enterprise Cloud with the AHV hypervisor, cutting licensing and reducing rack space and power by about 60%, and scaled the environment without a formal POC. The solution went live in under 48 hours with zero downtime, improved application performance and logon times (from ~60s to under 20s), halved the time spent juggling management tools via Nutanix Prism, and freed IT to focus on disaster recovery, security and other strategic projects while enabling easy future scalability.
