Delaware Valley Community Health Improves Patient Healthcare Experience During Pandemic

Delaware Valley Community Health, a community-focused healthcare provider serving underserved patients in the Philadelphia area, was struggling with aging infrastructure that couldn’t keep up with growing demands on its EMR, databases, and other critical applications. The outdated environment was hurting performance, limiting scalability, and making it difficult to support remote care and staff during the pandemic. Nutanix Enterprise Cloud, along with Nutanix Prism, AHV, Move, and HYCU for Nutanix, was selected to modernize the IT foundation.

Nutanix helped Delaware Valley Community Health migrate to two new hyperconverged clusters and improve performance, backup, and disaster recovery. The results were significant: EMR login time improved by nearly 90%, prescription processing dropped from 3–5 minutes to 15 seconds, backups of 1.2 TB now take about 30 minutes instead of 4–6 hours, and disaster recovery time fell from 24–48 hours to six minutes. Nutanix also enabled 75% of staff to work remotely and helped the organization launch telehealth in a week, keeping care delivery strong during COVID-19.
