A Nutanix Case Study
The City of Redmond’s IT team was managing an aging, disparate stack—HPE servers, VMware, Brocade SAN switches and NetApp storage—that was costly and time-consuming to maintain. Facing a third NetApp refresh and high maintenance overhead, engineers needed a more efficient, high-performance, reliable platform to support municipal applications and services.
They chose the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud (Acropolis NX-8000 with VMware ESXi) after evaluating vendors and consulting regional references, deploying it to run roughly 105–120 production VMs with site-to-site DR replication. The new hyperconverged environment consolidated the datacenter, provided single-pane Prism visibility, eliminated about eight hours per week of storage management, enabled non‑disruptive one-click upgrades and linear scalability, improved application performance, and freed IT to focus on new services.
