The City of Gainesville, Georgia needed to upgrade its aging 3-tier infrastructure, simplify management, and reduce costly hypervisor licensing fees. With limited IT staff and performance issues affecting city services, the city turned to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud to support workloads like ERP, financial, HR, public safety, and water authority applications.

Nutanix implemented Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform with AHV, Nutanix Files, and Prism, replacing legacy hosts and improving disaster recovery with a separate DR site. The city moved 75% of its VMs, migrated 30% of its 70TB file storage with Nutanix Files, saved 15% on files, reduced backup windows by 25%, and cut admin needs from three staff to two, while also eliminating vSphere licensing costs.
