A Nutanix Case Study
Bentleys Queensland, part of the Bentleys network of accounting firms with about 160 staff serving rural SMBs and government, faced aging Windows XP desktops that were too slow for modern 64‑bit applications and onerous to maintain for its two IT administrators. Having already virtualized servers, the firm wanted to move to VDI but found existing EMC SAN performance inadequate and was constrained by datacenter rack space, power and cooling limits.
Bentleys deployed a 3‑node Nutanix NX‑2300 converged platform preloaded with VMware vCenter and Horizon View to deliver Windows 7 virtual desktops. The rollout cut rack space by 88%, reduced power and cooling costs, fit the project budget, improved VDI performance and centralized desktop management (faster imaging, online patching), simplified remote access for auditors, and is positioned for full migration from physical desktops.
