Bauer Built Tire Upgrades Server and Storage Infrastructure to Nutanix for Unmatchable Simplicity

Bauer Built Tire, a major U.S. commercial tire dealer with 500 employees, 30 retail stores, 11 distribution centers and 10 manufacturing plants, faced a failing datacenter: 22 aging Dell servers with direct-attached storage, poor application performance for ~160 users, occasional freezes, and a sprawling footprint that consumed 42U across three racks. The IT team needed a modern, virtualized, consolidated solution that was simpler to manage and smaller in the datacenter.

Bauer Built deployed two Nutanix NX-2000 Complete Blocks (installed in about half a day) to run 23 VMs including email, SQL, BI and a VDI pilot. The new platform cut rack space from 42U to 7U, halved remote desktop logon time (47s → 21s), made BI cube carving 40% faster, reduced power by ~73 kWh/day (~12%), increased battery backup runtime 11x (23 → 260 minutes), and delivered a virtually self-managing, scalable infrastructure that supports future growth.
