Bauer Built Tire Drives Straight on Nutanix

Bauer Built Tire, a Durand, WI–based supplier of commercial and retail tire products with about 520 employees, was running 22 aging Dell servers with direct-attached storage to support roughly 160 users. The out-of-warranty infrastructure was underperforming (occasional app freezes, slow response), consumed excessive rack space and power, and needed a simpler, more manageable solution with a smaller datacenter footprint.

Bauer Built replaced the legacy stack with Nutanix NX-2000 hyperconverged systems (two nodes in 2012, plus a DR node in 2016) and virtualized workloads on VMware, consolidating 23 VMs. The move delivered zero Nutanix-related downtime over four years, halved remote desktop logon times, cut BI model generation to 45 seconds and sped data-cube carving by 40%, reduced rack space from 42U to 7U, extended battery runtime 11x to 260 minutes, lowered power bills, and simplified management.
