Case Study: BoCom International Trust halves datacenter footprint and OPEX with Nutanix

A Nutanix Case Study

Preview of the BoCom International Case Study

Bank of Communications International Trust scales effortlessly to meet growing business

BoCom International Trust, a Hong Kong–based subsidiary of Bank of Communications with over HK$700 billion in assets under management, faced scalability and operational challenges from its legacy three‑tier infrastructure. A small IT team had to travel an hour to a remote datacenter for hands‑on fixes, and the company needed a future‑proof platform to support growing workloads and cost‑effective disaster recovery without adding management complexity.

Working with Lenovo and Nutanix, BoCom deployed a hyperconverged infrastructure—six-node Lenovo ThinkAgile HX5520 for production (VMware vSphere with Nutanix AOS/AHV) and a six-node HX1320 cluster for testing and a DR pilot. The HCI solution enabled remote, unified management of compute, storage and networking, halved the datacenter footprint and operation & maintenance costs, and delivered seamless scalability, improved resilience and faster IT responsiveness.
