A Nutanix Case Study
Automotive Data Solutions (ADS) is a Canadian developer of remote-start and audio-integration products selling through dealers worldwide; its IT team of four must keep systems running 24x7 to support R&D, office and warehouse operations while the company ships over a million units annually. ADS faced storage bottlenecks and rising complexity after virtualizing on VMware vSphere 5.5 atop Dell SAN/NAS hardware, and was concerned about scaling further amid high VMware licensing and management costs.
ADS deployed Nutanix hyperconverged appliances (initial NX‑3450, now four 4‑node clusters across two data centers) and moved workloads onto the Acropolis platform using the Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) and Prism management. The integrated solution eliminated standalone SAN/NAS, simplified management with a single-pane interface, lowered CapEx and OpEx by avoiding expensive VMware licensing and additional storage, and improved scalability, supportability and operational efficiency as ADS transitions AHV into production.
