Case Study: PEO Aviation achieves fast, scalable VDI and 90% space savings with Nutanix

A Nutanix Case Study

Preview of the PEO Aviation Case Study

At PEO Aviation, Nutanix for VDI Soars above the Competition

PEO Aviation, the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office for Aviation, needed a high-throughput, easy-to-manage server and storage platform to move a VMware Horizon View VDI pilot into production. The original Dell blade + EMC SAN pilot lacked performance and high availability, and lengthy, unpredictable federal procurement cycles made scaling and management difficult.

PEO Aviation deployed two Nutanix NX-2000 Complete Blocks — a converged compute-and-storage platform with Fusion‑io and SSD tiering — fitting in just 4U. The result: more than 100 virtual desktops running, a 45-minute install versus half a day, “night-and-day” performance improvements, ~90% less rack space than a blade+SAN alternative, lower power and operating costs, simpler scaling and management, and highly responsive support.
