A Nutanix Case Study
Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), a not-for-profit regional health system in Maryland, relied on Epic for its electronic medical records and other mission-critical services but was hampered by a siloed infrastructure of separate storage, compute and hypervisors. That setup forced IT into time-consuming multi-vendor troubleshooting, limited staff productivity, increased operational overhead, and constrained upgrades—creating a clear need to consolidate and simplify to protect patient-facing systems and improve outcomes.
AAMC migrated virtual machines and analytics workloads onto Nutanix Enterprise Cloud (using AHV and Prism), consolidating the stack into a single hyperconverged platform. The move reduced infrastructure footprint and vendor touchpoints, shortened upgrade downtime (about two hours faster), sped ETL jobs fivefold, improved availability and staff efficiency, and set the organization up for scalable disaster‑recovery options and lower operational costs.
