Amsterdam UMC focuses on the future with Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure

Amsterdam UMC, the merged academic medical center of AMC and VUmc, needed a unified, highly available IT platform to support its core missions of care, research and education. With 28,000 users relying on virtual workstations, the organization faced the twin challenges of migrating to Windows 10, integrating two infrastructures, and achieving centralized, flexible and scalable management to ensure continuity of care.

Amsterdam UMC chose Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure (AOS, AHV) with Prism for centralized management after a proof of concept and independent testing. The migration delivered secure, highly available virtual workstations for 28,000 users, simplified operations with a single dashboard, faster updates and upgrades without downtime, and proactive monitoring—freeing IT staff to focus on innovation and giving the hospital a scalable, future‑proof foundation.
