Ambrose University Enables Remote Working for Faculty and Staff with Nutanix

Ambrose University, a faith-based higher education institution in Calgary, needed a simpler, more flexible way to manage its aging on-premises infrastructure and support a small IT team serving 1,300 users. The university also wanted a cost-effective platform that could support its LMS, Microsoft 365, web services, and databases while making it easier to shift staff to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nutanix Enterprise Cloud was the vendor and platform chosen to help address these challenges.

Nutanix migrated Ambrose University from separate storage and compute systems to a Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure with AHV, Prism Pro, and Veeam backup. With Nutanix, the IT team expanded remote access in just days, growing from three or four remote workers to more than 70 in less than a week, while maintaining dependable service. The university reported no service hiccups, easier VM and resource management, and the ability for a three-person IT team to support 1,300 users for three years without loss of service.
