A Nutanix Case Study
Akron Public Schools, the fifth-largest district in Ohio serving about 22,000 students, was constrained by a legacy three-tier VMware environment with separate SAN, servers and networking. The district needed to upgrade its MS SQL backend to support Tyler Technologies’ Munis financial software, but the overworked SAN and underpowered hardware prevented the required SQL upgrade and caused poor application performance.
Following a CDW/Nutanix demo and fast proof-of-concept, Akron deployed two Nutanix NX-3360 systems and migrated VMs with minimal downtime. The converged Nutanix platform cut the datacenter footprint roughly 10x, simplified management, and dramatically improved finance performance—saving more than 20 hours of compute time per week and reducing many report and restore tasks from hours to minutes—leading to happier users and plans to migrate additional systems.
