ACM starts journey towards Industry 4.0 with SAP on Nutanix

Alliance Contract Manufacturing (ACM), a Penang‑headquartered maker of precision parts and mechatronics with sites across Asia and Europe, faced a bottleneck: its business‑critical SAP ERP ran on a complex, virtualized three‑tier infrastructure with a large hardware footprint, high power/cooling costs and rising management and virtualization expenses—limiting IT agility and the company’s ability to pivot quickly.

ACM deployed a Nutanix hyperconverged platform (AHV, Prism) across a multi‑node cluster, migrated SAP ECC and began moving to SAP S/4HANA, and added offsite replication for continuity. The move unlocked real‑time S/4HANA insights, tripled virtual SAP instances without adding staff, cut rack space by 88%, reduced power and cooling by 50%, and lowered virtualization and DR costs by about 30%, while improving uptime and security posture for rapid pandemic response.
