International Consortium of Investigative Journalists uses Nuix to Analyze the Largest Data Leak Ever

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) was handed more than 2.5 million files (about 260 GB) detailing offshore financial activities across 170+ countries and needed to sift, cross-match and coordinate work across hundreds of leads and multiple languages. To tackle this massive unstructured dataset and support dozens of reporters, ICIJ partnered with Nuix and deployed Nuix eDiscovery Workstation and related eDiscovery tools.

Nuix provided software, training and support to consolidate and deduplicate the data, index millions of documents, generate network visualizations, and enable collaborative analysis—allowing 86 journalists in 46 countries (and 38 media organizations) to work together. Using Nuix eDiscovery, ICIJ produced years of reporting that exposed links to the Magnitsky affair, alleged corruption and offshore schemes by politicians and billionaires, and helped trigger multiple national investigations.
