A Nuix Case Study
Major Insurance Company struggled to apply legacy, paper-based records practices to an exploding electronic estate — its document stores had grown from 1.5 million to 70 million items — leaving most content mixed with drafts, databases and “dark data.” The company had a manage‑in‑place enterprise application and a new records manager but needed a way to classify, scope and prioritize the electronic records effort. Nuix was brought in to provide content analytics and records‑management support to assess the problem and guide the RIM program.
Nuix used analytics to inventory, classify and tag millions of files, identify low‑value “junk,” refine retention categories, and produce exports for the manage‑in‑place system so records could be registered and dispositioned. The engagement enabled the company to prioritize workgroups, build a measurable business case (reduced storage costs, faster search/productivity, and lower litigation/compliance effort), and establish ongoing benchmarks to show continual improvement — delivering a scalable, data‑driven foundation for broader information governance.
