Why the Team Designing Space Supercomputers Documents Their Knowledge in Nuclino

NASA’s SHREC (Center for Space, High-performance, and Resilient Computing) is a 48-person research consortium that designs space supercomputers and works with universities and industry partners. Facing high student turnover and the 2018 shutdown of their previous wiki (Wikispaces), SHREC needed a reliable information-hosting solution to preserve institutional knowledge; they selected Nuclino as their replacement platform.

Nuclino provided a modern, real-time, WYSIWYG knowledge workspace that requires no wikitext, offers markup shortcuts, and lets users copy‑paste images and diagrams directly—making documentation fast and effortless for busy researchers and students. As a result, Nuclino has helped SHREC stabilize its knowledge base (300+ items created since adopting Nuclino in 2018), reduced documentation overhead, and improved continuity as students graduate and new members onboard.
