A Nucleus Case Study
NatWest Markets faced the challenge of integrating multiple acquired boutique advisory firms and fund managers into a single, cohesive global investment bank. They appointed the branding agency Nucleus to create a unified identity without losing the individual brand equity and market credibility of the acquired names.
Nucleus conducted an international review and recommended a federal design system that integrated the acquired names. This "one firm" concept allowed for gradual business integration, which led to combined transactions of over $100bn in 1997. Despite this initial success, a subsequent change in senior management strategy resulted in NatWest exiting global investment banking in 1999.
