iMlango reaches 195 primary schools with Nucleus

The customer, iMlango, is a consortium aiming to deliver e-learning to improve educational outcomes for over 25,000 marginalized girls in Kenya and help track the impact of early and forced marriage. The consortium, which includes partners like Avanti Communications and Whizz Education, faced the challenge of creating a relevant and effective brand for this groundbreaking project. They appointed the vendor, Nucleus, to develop a brand name and identity.

Nucleus created the name iMlango, derived from the Swahili word for 'doorway,' and built a friendly and meaningful brand around it. The solution included student, teacher, and admin portals, alongside a system where parents are rewarded for sending their girls to school via a smartcard for use in local shops. As a result of Nucleus's work, the project was successfully launched in 195 primary schools in Kenya in July 2014.
