Scaling Up Transaction Banking Using Technology

India’s Largest State Owned Bank — a large public-sector bank with more than 5,000 branches and 7,000 ATMs — faced rapidly rising transaction volumes and needed a lighter, low‑bandwidth transaction banking platform that could integrate in real time with its core banking and payment gateway for NEFT/RTGS. The bank, a customer of Nucleus Software since 2005, selected Nucleus Software’s FinnAxia modules (Global Payments, Global Receivables, Global Liquidity Management and Business Internet Banking) to support expansion of corporate transaction banking and improved internet banking capabilities.

Nucleus Software implemented FinnAxia across 75 branches, integrated it with Finacle, Arcot, QPH/RBI Gateway and ISO 20022 RTGS, and used its automated migration toolkit while replacing batch interfaces with online processing. The deployment doubled the bank’s transaction‑banking customer base within a year and delivered measurable gains: 13x increase in transactions per day, 40% more NEFT/RTGS transactions, 600% growth in corporate internet banking users, 153% increase in internet payment gateway turnover and a 20% rise in cash‑management income, along with faster processing, better customer onboarding and a 4–5 hour per‑day reduction in staff effort.
