A Nuage Networks Case Study
S&P 500 Company, a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions, needed to unify disparate legacy and acquired networks and deliver “any service, anytime, anywhere, for anyone” without disrupting operations. Key challenges included preserving existing operational skill sets, supporting OpenStack and containers, providing a single customer portal, and phasing the transformation in steps. To address this, the company partnered with Nuage Networks and deployed Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) components such as the VSD, VSC, VRS, VSG and VSAP.
Nuage Networks overlaid the heterogeneous underlay with VSP to federate networks, centralize policy, enable end-to-end programmability, and automate service chaining so VNFs can be provisioned in real time via a unified portal. The implementation delivered faster time-to-revenue and higher customer satisfaction, elastic edge performance, provable security through micro-segmentation and zero-trust policies, and infrastructure cost advantages from x86 “Pod” consolidation — an approach the case study states will “pay for itself based on the initial services deployment alone” and helps the S&P 500 Company expand into SMB and enterprise markets.
