Paddy Power Betfair builds a next-generation platform featuring rapid response and continuous improvement for online betting applications

Paddy Power Betfair, the global online sports betting group, needed to modernize its datacenter infrastructure to support continuous DevOps-driven application updates, massive transaction volumes and strict security requirements. The company faced heterogeneous platforms driving up OPEX, limited inter‑datacenter failover, slow provisioning, brittle networking and only ~20% virtualization. To address this, Paddy Power Betfair selected Nuage Networks’ SDN solution—Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP)—alongside Red Hat OpenStack and orchestration tools to build a standardized, federated hybrid cloud.

Nuage Networks deployed VSP across redundant datacenters (using VSD, VSC and VRS) to provide a policy-driven overlay, BGP-based federation and automated network provisioning integrated with the OpenStack toolchain and CI/CD (Ansible, Jenkins, Chef). The implementation enabled rapid self‑service (VMs ready in ~15 minutes), IaaS availability targeted at 99.95%, increased virtualization to ~50% of workloads, and support for 1.7M users, 100M daily transactions and 2.7B daily API calls with zero network downtime for high‑frequency transactions. Nuage Networks also provided on‑site professional services and coordinated post‑deployment support with Red Hat to meet project KPIs.
