A Nuage Networks Case Study
Kromacom, a nationwide enterprise headquartered in Texas, faced a legacy hub-and-spoke WAN that could not keep pace with its move to cloud IT and new branch-to-branch collaboration tools. Alex Warner, Kromacom’s CIO, found expensive, capacity-constrained MPLS links, high operational complexity from site-by-site router configs, and inflexible topology were hindering growth. To modernize the WAN, Kromacom selected Nuage Networks’ Virtualized Network Services (VNS) to address these challenges.
Nuage Networks deployed VNS — including the VSD policy manager, VSC controllers and NSG branch gateways — to create a software-defined, any-to-any SD‑WAN with template-based, centralized policy enforcement. The solution enabled intelligent Internet offload, mesh topologies, virtualized network functions, service-provider independence and automated branch provisioning, reducing on-site specialist visits, lowering CAPEX/OPEX, improving resiliency (Internet as backup) and increasing effective WAN capacity and manageability across Kromacom’s estate.
