China Mobile creates DevOps private clouds for its subsidiaries

China Mobile, the leading mobile services provider in Mainland China with nearly 800 million subscribers and operations across all 31 provinces and regions, needed to transform its internal systems into a scalable DevOps private cloud for its many subsidiaries. The carrier required per‑subsidiary isolation, the ability to run development and production on the same architecture, avoidance of vendor lock‑in, and cost‑efficient scalability — requirements that OpenStack Neutron alone could not fully meet, so China Mobile selected Nuage Networks’ Virtualized Services Platform (VSP).

Nuage Networks implemented VSP alongside OpenStack (using VSD, VSC, VRS and VRS‑G) to deliver isolated Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) for each subsidiary, real‑time elasticity, policy‑based controls and “white box” economics. The solution gives China Mobile the scalability to operate at telco/cloud volumes, supports nationwide subsidiaries, speeds time to market for commercializing internal services, and delivers measurable cost and operational advantages that position China Mobile to innovate and compete more effectively — all enabled by Nuage Networks.
