Case Study: AscoTLC (Italian cloud service provider) achieves next-generation SDN/SD‑WAN cloud agility and cost savings with Nuage Networks

A Nuage Networks Case Study

Preview of the AscoTLC Case Study

AscoTLC, a leading Italian cloud service provider, delivers next-generation SDN and SD-WAN cloud infrastructure with Nuage Networks

AscoTLC, a regional cloud service provider in Northeast Italy with 2,100 km of fiber and four datacenters, sought to move from traditional telecom services to automated, on‑demand SDN and SD‑WAN cloud offerings while avoiding vendor lock‑in and leveraging its existing Juniper underlay. To accelerate time‑to‑market and deliver more agile, customer‑driven services, AscoTLC selected Nuage Networks and its Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) and SD‑WAN capabilities as the foundation for the next‑generation cloud infrastructure.

Nuage Networks deployed a centralized VSP controller and NSG (physical and virtual) CPEs integrated with OpenStack in AscoTLC’s Santa Lucia datacenter, providing a single policy‑based automation plane across datacenters, public cloud and branch WANs and enabling a self‑service VPN portal, flexible CPE choices, and integrated security via ecosystem partners. The Nuage Networks solution reduced operational overhead, accelerated service delivery, positioned AscoTLC as one of the first providers to offer combined SDN/SD‑WAN cloud services, and supports a rollout targeting about 1,000 peripheral customer sites within two years, delivering measurable gains in agility and lower WAN costs for customers.
