A NTT Communications Case Study
Takenaka Corporation, a leading Japanese construction firm behind landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Abeno Harukas, faced growing ICT challenges as site-based file servers across roughly 500 projects created data silos, limited mobile and cross-office access to large CAD/BIM files, and risked business continuity. With an industry-wide need to boost productivity amid a shrinking, aging workforce, the company sought a reliable, shareable platform for documents, contracts and BIM data.
Takenaka migrated site, branch and head office file servers into a private cloud built on NTT Com’s Arcstar Universal One, Enterprise Cloud and Nexcenter services, tuned to preserve BIM response times via WAFS and high-speed networking. The result: secure, anytime access for employees and partners (including mobile viewing of drawings), improved disaster recovery through data-center redundancy, lower operational burden from outsourced management, and a scalable foundation for future digital initiatives such as big data, AI and Construction 4.0.
