Case Study: Sojitz Corporation achieves faster, more secure, and cost-efficient group IT on Microsoft Azure with NTT Communications

A NTT Communications Case Study

Preview of the Sojitz Corporation Case Study

Realizing an IT platform that adapts to business changes swiftly on a group level for the Sojitz Group – leveraging Microsoft Azure

Sojitz Corporation, a global general trading company with more than 400 group companies and 82 overseas offices, faced mounting limits from its on‑premises data centers: slow infrastructure procurement (taking weeks), heavy operational and renewal costs (over 60% of annual IT investment), and difficulty responding quickly to changing business needs.

To address this, Sojitz partnered with NTT Communications and Microsoft to migrate to a hybrid cloud built on Microsoft Azure using a phased, task‑force approach and multi‑cloud networking (Arcstar Universal One, SD‑WAN, Cloud Proxy). The first phase—moving headquarters development machines—completed in about two weeks; the program targets ~50% faster response times, stronger companywide security via unified Azure policies, and about 30% total cost reduction, enabling faster business launches and ongoing digital transformation.
