Case Study: Hitachi achieves global collaboration across 300,000 employees with NTT Communications' GWAN

A NTT Communications Case Study

Preview of the Hitachi Case Study

Integrated network maximizes Hitachi’s total strengths Collaboration accelerated among 300,000 employees in 30 countries

Hitachi, a diversified industrial group advancing its Social Innovation Business across healthcare, energy, transportation, urban development and IT, faced fragmented IT infrastructure and regional networks across six markets. Differing outsourcing criteria, SLAs and operations created compatibility, security and cost issues that were slowing collaboration among group companies and hindering global integration.

Hitachi issued an RFP and selected NTT Communications to deploy GWAN (Arcstar Universal One), a globally integrated network linking 300,000 users across six regions with 260 circuits. With a dedicated project team and local carrier management, the rollout unified security and standards, removed redundant investments, accelerated infrastructure consolidation and strengthened group collaboration, with main company connections now nearly complete and further integration planned.
