Cloud-based voice infrastructure established a new working style, free from location constraints, with a dramatic cost reduction

All Nippon Airways (ANA), a major international airline operating roughly 22,000 telephones across its group, faced an aging PBX estate and rising communication costs while pushing to enable a new, location-independent working style. The company needed a flexible, secure voice infrastructure to support BYOD, fixed-mobile convergence and seamless global operations so employees could work anytime, anywhere without being tied to desks.

ANA adopted NTT Communications’ Arcstar UCaaS — a cloud-based, multi-carrier, multi-device voice platform with web directory and MDM — to consolidate PBX functions, enable FMC and outsource management. The rollout accelerated the shift to mobile-enabled work, improved security and call handling, provided global coverage, and delivered an expected annual cost reduction of about ¥400 million.
