ASICS, a global designer and manufacturer of athletic footwear and apparel with offices in over 50 countries, needed to consolidate core systems into a single global ERP to support a shift toward direct e-commerce sales. That transition exposed shortcomings in its legacy network—insufficient throughput, latency, security and flexibility—so ASICS required a highly reliable, low-latency global network that could scale as it added subsidiaries.

ASICS selected NTT Communications’ Arcstar Universal One with Multi-Cloud Connect, IPSEC VPN gateways and NFV-based high-speed WAN to connect regional offices and cloud providers. The new architecture enables real-time ERP access, removes the need for individual office VPNs to AWS (reducing management and TCO), improves latency and bandwidth in pilot regions, and shortens new-office network rollout time to about one third of the previous schedule.
