Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a global leader in ceramic-based electronic components with over 90% of sales overseas, faced a fragmented, layered regional network that hindered fast, reliable communication and collaboration across its dispersed workforce and partners. To maintain business agility and enable its "value network" of globally connected employees, Murata needed a streamlined communications platform with presence/IM and scheduling capabilities to remove bottlenecks and speed decision-making.

Murata partnered with NTT Communications to deploy Arcstar Universal One, Arcstar UCaaS, Cisco WebEx and Cisco Jabber, migrating more than 100 lines over two years across China, ASEAN, Europe and the US. The unified platform (around 20,000 user IDs for UCaaS and WebEx) delivered higher QoS, global visibility into network status, consistent audio and web-conferencing performance, faster collaborative decisions, and thousands of monthly web conferences—while enabling further expansion into video, big-data services and improved customer/employee satisfaction.
