A NTP Software Case Study
Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) is a large Texas-based credit union with 39 locations, more than 325,000 members and a SAN data center running about 200 Windows servers. Rapid growth of diverse and multimedia file types was consuming storage quickly, so the Technical Services team needed to understand what was stored, remove redundant or obsolete data, optimize capacity use, and get users involved in managing their own files to control costs and avoid unnecessary storage purchases.
RBFCU deployed NTP Software File Reporter and NTP Software QFS to discover old, duplicate, and nonbusiness files and to enforce quotas and user alerts. The tools provided detailed analytics and user-level visibility, enabled quotas and self-service cleanup, reduced data sprawl and DR replication, deferred new storage investments, lowered future storage costs, and decreased help-desk effort thanks to rapid deployment and ongoing support.
