SI-BONE scales implant design 2x faster with nTopology

SI-BONE, a medical device company, needed to automate the mass customization of a family of over 70 unique spinal implants. Manually processing these designs was costly, time-consuming, and prone to human error, taking up to 12 engineering hours per batch. To tackle this challenge, they turned to nTopology and its nTop Automate product.

Using nTop Automate, SI-BONE created a repeatable batch-processing workflow driven by a simple Python script. This solution applied a novel osseointegrative lattice structure to the entire product family in under six hours of unsupervised computing time. The results from nTopology included a 91% reduction in invested engineering hours, a 90% reduction in operational costs, and a 2x faster processing time, all while achieving 100% accuracy and full traceability.
