A nTopology Case Study
Lockheed Martin, a leader in the aerospace and defense industry, faced a significant challenge in optimizing a complex heat exchanger design. Their legacy simulation workflows, reliant on traditional CFD and fragile meshing, were ill-suited for advanced geometries and caused weeks of delays for a single analysis, stalling innovation and hindering institutional knowledge reuse. They collaborated with nTopology to overcome these obstacles.
nTopology implemented a solution using its implicit modeling and voxel-based simulation to eliminate meshing failures entirely. This enabled the rapid generation of over 400 design simulations in under eight hours. The data was then used to train AI surrogate models, which allowed for inverse design optimizations to be completed in seconds. This nTopology-driven workflow reduced potential design iteration cycles from weeks to minutes, providing a robust, AI-ready foundation for future thermal-fluid systems.
