LightForce Orthodontics, a Cambridge-based designer and manufacturer of patient-specific dental braces, faced a scaling bottleneck: generating 20 custom brackets per patient from 3D scans was time-consuming and limited throughput. To solve this, LightForce partnered with nTopology, adopting nTopology’s design-automation software (including nTopCL) to replace their legacy CAD workflows.

Using nTopology’s traceable, reusable workflows and command-line automation, LightForce automated the entire brace design pipeline, reducing design time up to 60× (from 10 hours to 10 minutes), cutting manual design from 10 to 3 hours, and shortening installation time from 1.5 hours to 30 minutes; the result is better patient outcomes, faster installs (reported as 33% faster), easier trainee onboarding, and the ability to ship 100+ custom braces per day.
