Case Study: Micron21 Achieves Reliable DDoS Protection with NSFOCUS

A NSFOCUS Case Study

Preview of the Micron21 Case Study

Micron21 Depends on Nsfocus for Protection Against Distributed Denial-of Service Attacks

Micron21, a Melbourne-based data center provider operating Australia’s largest peered network, was facing frequent DDoS attacks that disrupted its hosting customers and strained its routers, firewalls, and network capacity. After finding that existing defenses were too complex and ineffective, Micron21 turned to NSFOCUS and evaluated its Anti-DDoS solution, ADS, to find a more reliable way to stop malicious traffic without impacting legitimate users.

NSFOCUS ADS was selected after lab testing for its accuracy, ease of use, and flexibility, using multi-stage detection and mitigation methods such as anti-spoofing, protocol analysis, behavior analysis, and rate limiting. With NSFOCUS, Micron21 has mitigated thousands of attacks, expanded to five global DDoS scrubbing centers, reduced bandwidth costs, and protected customers from major incidents including a 90 Gbps attack that moved 23 terabytes in two hours and could have caused at least $1.3 million in losses.
