Dallas ISD cuts energy use across 230 schools with NRG Energy

Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD) sought to decrease its carbon footprint and achieve financial gains through improved energy efficiency. To meet this challenge, the school district partnered with vendor NRG Energy and utilized their Responsive Economic Dispatch (RED) program as part of its solution.

NRG Energy's solution involved a multi-phase project to upgrade the district's HVAC and lighting systems. This was combined with participation in the NRG Responsive Economic Dispatch demand response program, which provided financial incentives for reducing energy use during peak times. The project achieved its goals of carbon reduction and significant energy savings, allowing the district to reinvest the financial gains back into classroom education.
