How OCS Used Video Analytics to Make the Most of a COVID-19 Surge in Streaming

OCS, through its broadcasting platform Orange Prestations TV (OPTV), needed to strengthen platform resilience as streaming demand grew after its Game of Thrones success and then surged again during Covid-19. NPAW’s YOUBORA video analytics was used to help the team identify errors, compare performance across devices and players, and prepare the platform for higher traffic and more demanding service conditions.

With NPAW’s YOUBORA dashboards and reporting, OPTV prioritized platform fixes, stress-tested key components, and worked with partners to resolve device and provider issues. The results included a 60% reduction in errors platform-wide, a 70% lower buffer ratio, 26% shorter join times, and a 19% increase in average bitrate, while user numbers more than doubled and playback increased by 150% during the pandemic surge.
