Great North Run, the organizer of mass participation events such as the Great North Run, Great South Run and Great Manchester Run, needed a way to aggregate, curate and distribute social and news content across multiple event sites while boosting engagement and authority. They engaged NowSignage to deploy EventBeat’s Web Scoop social media aggregation service to centralize content and surface the best images, comments and external news for each event site.
NowSignage implemented the EventBeat Web Scoop to pull targeted social posts and news (e.g., BBC, SKY Sports), letting editors select and publish top images and comments directly to each event site and enabling visitors to interact and share. The solution gave Great North Run centralized control over content distribution, created event-specific feeds (like a swim-only Great Swim page), and lifted visitor interaction and social sharing — positioning the Great Run sites as more authoritative and engaging hubs.
