The Great Scottish Run, Scotland’s largest mass-participation event with roughly 30,000 entrants across three days, needed a way to engage runners and supporters and surface live social content during the 2013 Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run. To meet that challenge the event worked with NowSignage to deploy a social media display and moderation service (the EventBeat Twitter Wall) at the official tent and facilities area.

NowSignage ran the Twitter Wall on the Bank of Scotland screen, moderating and broadcasting participant tweets, photos and Instagram posts in real time — 257 items were published to the screen — which became a popular meeting point and boosted crowd engagement. NowSignage also captured and stored the small amount of negative sentiment for organizer review, giving the Great Scottish Run immediate visibility and actionable feedback while enhancing the spectator experience.
