EventBeat and Nova Lift Spirits at Bupa’s Great North 10K

Great North Run (Bupa’s Great North 10K in Gateshead) wanted a new way to engage and motivate mass-participation runners by showing personalised, on-course messages tied to individual competitors. NowSignage was brought in to provide digital social signage and live social media screens to deliver those customised motivational messages under tight time constraints.

NowSignage deployed multiple large screens around the 10K, capturing runner photos, matching them to unique ID codes, and relaying branded personalised messages (in partnership with sponsor PUMA) via a wireless SD card and bespoke backend software. The system delivered messages in an average turnaround of just 50 seconds, the trial was judged a huge success, organisers and participants were delighted, and NowSignage is now in talks to roll the solution out to other mass sporting events.
