Ex’pression College Protects Massive Digital Assets with NovaStor

Ex’pression College, a San Francisco Bay Area digital arts school with 48 servers, over 10 TB of media and rapid data growth, was struggling with backups that routinely overran windows, sometimes taking more than a week, plus unreliable tape rotation and limited virtual-machine support. To address these challenges the college selected NovaStor and its NovaStor DataCenter solution (with the NovaStor Education Bundle) to replace their legacy NetVault environment.

NovaStor implemented DataCenter, staging backups to disk and archiving to tape with off-site storage, and enabled multi-streaming/multiplexing to speed throughput; NovaStor also provided local support and a flexible payment plan to ease deployment. The result: NovaStor cut backup times by roughly 50%, simplified tape management and virtualization support, and delivered faster restores and responsive technical support for Ex’pression College.
