Joe White Tank (JWT), an industry leader in custom tank fabrication, faced challenges in scaling its workforce for projects with fluctuating demands. The company wanted to avoid the negative impact of hiring and firing welders for short-term jobs. To address this, JWT turned to vendor Novarc Technologies Inc. and its Spool Welding Robot (SWR).

By implementing Novarc's SWR, which included integrating multiple positioners, JWT significantly boosted its productivity. The solution enabled a 3.1 times increase in pipe welding productivity and a reduction of over 70% in the number of welders dedicated to piping. This allowed JWT to increase shop capacity, accept more short lead-time projects, and better combat the industry-wide shortage of qualified welders.
